Are you hungry to read and write exquisite, living language? Do cheap clickbait and empty chatter anger you? If so, then you're in good company. Let's find our true homes through poetry, prayer, and social justice.

A little about me: I'm a DC-based published poet from Georgia, Poetry Editor at Geez Magazine, former pastor, #ChurchToo survivor, returned immigrant from China, and contemplative prayer leader. Whenever possible, I love to bike on DC greenways, or savor a good book in my hammock, under my neighbor's maple tree.

Sign up below for my missive that I send out around the 27th of most months, which contains exclusive content: a personal reflection about where I find poetry lately, a “poetry around town” section of broader news and updates, and “why poetry matters?” observations from a kaleidoscope of poets.

Want a sample of my writing? Check out this missive, called "How Long Does a Poem Take? And Repentance."

After you sign up, you'll receive a confirmation email. If you don't find the confirmation in your inbox, then please check spam and promotions folders. Adding me (Melanie) to your contact list will also help my missive land in your inbox going forward.

Join me as we forage for some wild and alive language—in house slippers :).
